Risk losing Kujovic: “Great interest” – Aftonbladet

The top scorer and gold hero.

After a brilliant season may Emir Kujović, 27, lost to IFK Norrkoping.

– I was eager to leave already this summer, but it went well then. And it was not that I grieved me that I needed to stay, he said.

Emir Kujović have been in great shape all season. 27-year-old, who won the top scorer on 21 hits, has been hugely important for IFK Norrkoping.

So it was no surprise when just he stepped forward and shot “Beijing” a big step closer to the SM-gold against Malmo FF on Saturday.

“Contract next year too”

It may be difficult for IFK Norrkoping to keep their gem of next season.

– I have a contract next year too, we’ll see what happens. I have not figured at all in the courts and not wanted to talk to my agent nor the end here, said Kujovic.

– But as I have said, I was eager to leave as early as last summer, but it went well then. And it was not that I grieved me that I needed to stay. Actually, it has been even better since the summer.

What were your options then?

– There were a lot of options but it was never as concrete . I think Norrköping put a little too high price tag.

Did not want to sell him

The agent Hasan Cetinkaya says he and Kujovic had a discussion with the club last summer.

– The idea was that the Emir would be leaving in the summer. We had a discussion with IFK Norrkoping, but they do not want to sell him as he is a top player and they had a sense of the gold. We respected the decision and the Emir gave everything during the fall, he said.

– Now we hope to IFK Norrkoping will respect Emirs like if something comes up that is suitable for him. He is ready to take the next step, he is good enough for it. He has one year left on his contract and the interest is high.

“The opportunity to play for two national teams’

Emir Kujović hope he can finish the season with the national team. Either Sweden or Montenegro.

– What I know is that they are interested, but if it means that they will call me I do not know, he says of Montenegro.

– I was born in Montenegro and it is special to have the opportunity to play for two teams. But I grew up here and what I can say is that I want – then we will see.
