Confirmed: Vettel leaves the Red Bull – Eurosport.com SE

Red Bulls news created shockwaves through the paddock at the Japan GP on Saturday. Stable announces that the four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel leaves after the season and is heading to Ferrari.

         “Sebastian Vettel has informed us that he will be leaving Red Bull for 2014 season We want to give a warm thanks to Sebastian for the great role he has played for Red Bull in the last six years,” writes the stables in a statement.
       

         Lagbossen Christian Horner says Vettel is heading to Ferrari, but it has not been confirmed by the Italian stable.
       

         Red Bull has however already acted and appointed 20-year-old Russian Daniil Kvyat from Toro Rosso to successor. He will take Vettel’s place and run next to Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bull next year.
       

         Vettel says it is “a tough day and a tough decision”, and at than not unhappy at the stables.
       

         - We have had an incredible time, the last five or six years. Obviously, this year is not the way we hoped, but that’s part of racing, a part of life.

         - It has nothing to do with the results I have had in years. It’s more that I was ready and felt the time was right. I am full of hope and full of faith that I will succeed at wherever I go.
       

         The move to Ferrari makes Ferando Alonso’s future instead becomes increasingly uncertain. He was said to be heading back to McLaren. It could also mean the end of the 2009 world champion Jenson Button, whose contract with McLaren expires this year.
       

         - The news so far is that Sebastian leaves Red Bull. The other is just a guess from all. I have not decided quite yet, says Alonso.
