Lars Stock Bäcks Island got dream start – Aftonbladet

Lars Stock Bäcks Island is unstoppable in the European Championship qualifiers.

Today won bang gang 2-0 against World Cup semi-finalist Holland.

Now leads one group with maximum nine points and 8-0 in goal difference.

Iceland ended up in one of the EM kvalets toughest and most uncertain teams with World Cup semi-finalist Holland, Turkey, Czech Republic, Latvia and Kazakhstan.

But right now, nothing seems able to stop Lars Stock Bäcks men. Qualifying began with 3-0 victories against both Turkey and Latvia, and not even one of Holland in need of points (they lost their first match against the Czech Republic) could threaten the blue.

Double goal from superstar

Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson certainly put 1-0 on a penalty after 10 minutes. Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben had certainly good acknowledgment chances but it was again Gylfi Sigurdsson who would enroll in the scoresheet when he thumped a volley in the roof of the net after

a corner.

Holland had much of the ball in the second half but were unable to create some really hot times.

Leads Group

Instead, Lars Lagerback applaud his players after the team’s greatest achievement perhaps under his leadership.

Iceland now go into the lead at maximum nine points in Group A and 8-0 in goal difference. The Czech Republic is at the same point total, while Guus Hiddink has been a nightmare start as the new coach of Holland who only taken one of three victories so far.

Even Turkey’s result went the way of Iceland when they only got 1-1 away against Latvia.
