Ola Toivonen replaced Zlatan Ibrahimovic and rescued a point before he was injured. But it could have been three points for Sebastian Larsson put his penalty.
No Ibrahimovic, no Albin Ekdal, no Mikael Lustig. Zlatan got the game from the bench spot after the injury, and saw the Swedish team launch at a furious pace. Ola Toivonen had a cannon shot away but missed the ball.
Instead Aleksandr Kokorin got the ball and was ice cold when he put the 1-0 to Russia next Andreas Isaksson’s post. Shortly thereafter went Erkan Zengin overturned in the penalty area and the referee, Nicola Rizzoli chose to warn Igor Smolnikov and give Sweden punishment.
– There is absolutely no penalty. It is an invitation from Rizzoli, says Hans Backe in Channel 5th
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is usually ice cold from the penalty spot. When he was missing Sebastian Larsson steps up and burned penalties. After that it was as if the energy lost from the Swedish players. Part of team were floated
Erik Hamrén chose not to make any changes at halftime despite a weak ending to the first half. It took just five minutes before Erkan Zengin hit a nice post as Ola Toivonen ran perfectly and hit it 1-1. Shortly thereafter Toivonen pulled hamstrings and was replaced in favor of Johan Elmander.
But neither Elmander or Alexander Kacaniklic replacing Nabil Bahoui affected the match very much. Erik Hamrén can still be quite happy with a stick against the two top competitors in Austria and now Russia.
