24-year-old Erik Karlsson has been a great success during his seasons in Ottawa. 2011/2012 season, he was awarded Norris Trophy, the prize for the league’s best defenseman. In 315 games with Ottawa responsible for 63 goals and 237 points.

Now he takes over the captain’s armband from Jason Spezza who left Ottawa for Dallas.

– I am very excited about becoming a big part of this organization. We feel that we are a team that will develop rapidly in the future, says Erik Karlsson Ottawa Sun.

He develops his argument on Ottawa’s website.

I’m actually a little nervous, I do not really know what to say. It’s a good feeling. It is an honor to be captain of a Canadian law and something I had not dared hope for when I came here. I want to thank the whole

organization. Since I was drafted, I was given every opportunity to become the player I am today and I do not think I could have done it elsewhere , says Karlsson.

Karlsson becomes the second Swede in the Club who may wear the “C” message on his shirt. Daniel Alfredsson was the captain for 13 years, 1999 2013.
