Hysteria: Lagerback gets its own beer on the Island – Aftonbladet

The Icelandic football mania lives on.

Now, Lars Lagerback own beer named after him.

– Lars is a God Iceland right now, says Óli Rúnar Jónsson at the Brewery Borg Sport Bladet.

Iceland have qualified for their first European championships in football ever and on Monday it was stated that 40-50 percent of the population having reported sick to his employer as a result of the wild celebrations after advancement.

Started as a joke

Football hysteria – and especially Lars Lagerback hysteria – there are no limits.

Now comes the next step. Lars Lagerback, 67, will have its own beer named after him on the island.

– The idea actually came a year ago when someone on the Internet joked that “if we go to the European Championship you have to make a beer for Lagerback “. And yes, here we are, says Óli Rúnar Jónsson at the Brewery Borg Sport Bladet.

The brewery is known to baptize their beers after the famous Icelandic names and fictitious characters. All labels are similar and now therefore Swede Lagerback get their own. The most likely scenario is that the beer will be called “LARS” which of course is a “LAYER BOCK” (a sweeter variation of stocks).

– Bearings and bending is of course one of the many beers, but it was very easy to play with Lars name says Óli Rúnar Jónsson.

He says that several people have now heard of and increased the pressure on the brewery will produce the new beer as a tribute to the Swedish coach.

– Lars is a God in Iceland right now. I would not be surprised if someone updates Prose Edda (Icelandic medieval history) soon to enter Lars as one of the Nordic gods, joking Óli Rúnar Jónsson.
