Huge joy in Northern Ireland. The home team beat Greece at Windsor Park – and is ready for the European Championships in 2016.
When Steven Davis put 1-0 against the last team Greece meant that Northern Ireland stepped up first in group F. And directly in the second half increased Josh Magennis on to 2-0. His very first country fights. Shortly later came the 3-0, and then it was again Davis struck.
Greece reduced with three minutes remaining to 3-1 by Christos Aravidis. But it did little to upset the joy of nordirländarna. Thanks to the three points EM-site salvaged before the final round.
It is the national team’s first major championship since the 1986 World Cup.
