Deveaux assault not common – Västerbotten Courier

Similar assault as it Rögle player Andre Deveaux did in Vasteras Per Helmersson is unusual. But it happens that sporting miss manifestations end up in court.

It is actually just weeks ago an ugly assault on the ice got more far reaching consequences than in the sports world internal discipline system. Even then stood a Rögle Players in focus. James Lilja crosschecking in mind at Malmö hill Jens Olsson reviewed some time ago by prosecutors.

– It is extremely rare, but there are some cases. Then it’s got to be in the lower divisions, says Hockey Federation’s judgments CEO Thomas Thor Brink.

In a thesis from the University of Lund in 2009, signed Miranda Berg, noted several cases which led to both prosecutions and convictions, including in hockey , football and hockey. Of the 27

judgments analyzed between 1957 and 2008, only three cases which led to prison sentences.

But even though the cases are relatively rare, they can cause trouble in a larger context.

– We have enough problems with the recruitment of both boys and girls to start playing hockey at a young age. And then something happens like this. What parents want to send their children as well, says Torsten Brinkmann.
