Historical Hirscher took triple – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

With momentum went Marcel Hirscher also won his third straight victory in the slalom Cup.

Austrian Marcel Hirscher made history yesterday when he won the World Cup for the fourth year in a row – something no male skier passed of the past. 26-year-old Hirscher led by the Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud for today’s concluding slalom in French Méribel, but then Jansrud decided not to stand was clear.

And there was a triple for the 26-year-old yesterday also secured the giant slalom Cup. After being third in the first slalom race it was clear that Hirscher had to be number one or two in order to pass the German Felix Neureuther in slalom Cup.

Hirscher got to a really monsteråk and won with less than 83 hundredths the Italian Giuliano Razzoli, and hence took home the slalom Cup for the third year in a row.

Mattias Hargin was seventh after the first run but ran out in the second. André Myhrer instead became best Swedish fifth.

In the fight for overall victory in the women expecting a thrilling showdown in the second giant slalom run. Anna Fenninger, Austria, has regained the lead from Tina Maze of Slovenia, but only by two points.

The Swede Sara Hector is seventh.
