Twice Norway Vasaloppet – again – Aftonbladet

MORA / STOCKHOLM. No, Sweden.

Today we had no chance against the Norwegians.

In the absence of Swedish favorites like Jorgen Brink and Johan Olsson took Petter Eliassen careers biggest victory after a spurt spread with Anders Aukland.

– It has been a fine day. Unreal, says the winner to SVT.

Last year, it became doubly Norway at the top – so again this year.

After Jorgen Brinks three straight Vasalopps Wins 2010-2012, Norway has subscribed to victory wreath in the Vasaloppet.

After Jorgen Aukland and John Kristian Dahl was the year debutant Peter Elijah’s turn to take home the prestigious Classic.

– That there would be victory I had never imagined. It was unreal, says Eliassen to SVT.

He won the race after a sprint battle with fellow countryman Anders Aukland, who won in 2004.

– He was incredibly strong today. It was he who made the race, says the winner Eliassen.

Södergren put color

This morning was gloomy Swedish notified when three-time champion Jorgen Brink and joker Johan Olsson announced that they had to cancel .

But it was a Swedish initially put color on the run.

Anders Sodergren has not Vasaloppet in 15 years – and chose unlike most of the others to go this year race with kick wax.

The Swede rushed past the other riders in the first hill and got himself a big lead.

But the riders behind were not eager to drop off the Swede too far. And once he was passed was the most Norway it was about the top.

Behind the Norwegian double victory ended the Czech Stanislav Rezac third.
