European Championship qualifying match between Montenegro and Russia was not even half a minute old when the scandal scenes took place at Podgorica City Stadium. The match resumed again after about 30 minutes. Then had the second goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin come on for Akinfejev, who is said to have been taken to hospital.
Russia and Montenegro stands at five recorded points each in Group G and chasing thereby Sweden in the hunt for a ticket to the European Championships in France.
