Roger Federer advanced on Tuesday to its eleventh quarterfinals of the US Open. The Swiss won the eighth finals against American John Isner, seeded # 13 in the world, 7-6, 7-6, 7-5.
Federer, who has won 17 Grand Slam titles, will meet Frenchman Richard Gasquet in quarter-final.
However, they lost Andy Murray’s quarter final. South African Kevin Anderson defeated third-seeded Briton 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in a match that took over four hours to complete.
World number one Novak Djokovic secured already on Sunday a quarter-final spot by victory against Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut. But it sat deep. The 2011 champion won with setsiffrorna 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, but lost a lead of 4-2 in the second set. Djokovic will meet Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the quarterfinals.
