Iceland (!) Is ready for the European Football Championship. – Aftonbladet

The Island (!) is ready for the European Football Championships.

Lars stock Bäck’s men drew 0-0 at home against Kazakhstan which is enough for advancement.

– A huge feat, says Johan Arneng in Eurosport.

Since Lars Lagerback took over as coach of Iceland 2012, the small country with just over 300 000 inhabitants stormed up in the FIFA Europe. 2013 where close to qualify for the World Cup, but Lagerback and Co. fell on the finishing line in the playoff against Croatia.

“Make him President”

In the current European Championship qualifiers have “Strákarnir okkar” – as the national team is called – continued to enjoy great success despite tough opposition in the shape of Turkey, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.

And as success is Lagerbäck has been raised to the skies.

“Do Lagerback president” wrote ex-minister Össur Skar Heidi’s son after the 1-0 victory against the Netherlands on Thursday.

“A huge achievement”

The victory meant that in practice it was clear to the European Championships.

And on Sunday at home against Kazakhstan, got the point that proclaims that Iceland made it impossible to Lars “Lasse” Lagerback led the national team to its first championship.

The match itself was not big shot. It ended 0-0 and captain Aron Gunnarsson was sent off in the closing minutes. But the result means that the Turkey – currently in third place – no longer have the chance to catch up.

– There is obviously a huge feat, says expert Johan Arneng in Eurosport.

final whistle sounded, the players shouted out his joy and relief. Lars Lagerback? He saw how calm out anything when the TV cameras zoomed in him.
