Job done for Frölunda – Göteborgs-Posten

Frölunda went unbeaten through the group stage of the CHL. But it hung in the balance for a while in Sheffield.

On Tuesday raffled playoffs.

Sheffield Steelers 1

Frolunda 4

Hockey Saturday in England. And a match with no other meaning than that the home team got a chance to trap a high earners.

What you almost were about to do.

it was a little notch engine for Frölunda , a lot of scrimmage from both teams, and the hard-working Sheffield which, of course, last year’s finallag in visiting Sheffield arena every day.

Frölunda was already finished group winners, Sheffield finished third. So robin figren, Spencer Abbott and Oscar Fantenberg rested and Joel Lundqvist, whose wife will give birth to the couple’s third child, was at home.

It gave playing time to juniors John Dahlstrom, Kevin Elgestål and Alexander Younan.

Frölunda had a functioning power play so far in the Champions Hockey League. Then came also 1-0 when Mathieu Roy sat sent off.

artturi lehkonen sent a puck from the right wing into the middle standing Elias Fälth which attracted direct – and made Frölunda’s twelfth goal of, so far, 28 numerical across states in the CHL.

It would be more. Many more, who did not go as smoothly. Including a 5 in the 3-position in the second period Frölunda could not take advantage.

Instead, it was Sheffield who acknowledged when Mats Rosseli-Olsen got two minutes for high sticking. The puck came from Jeff Legue, behind the goal line, into the onrushing Levi Nelson who pushed it into Lasse Johansson nättak.

The period to Sheffield.

The third was restored “order” when Artturo Lehkonen slid forward and sent the puck between the legs of talented goalkeeper Tyler Plant.

After which it was Sheffield’s turn to play 5 on 3. In two minutes. Without dividends.

Ryan Lasch poked 3-1 after rounding Plants goals without the puck, to turn up the noses of Sheffieldmålvakten while bouncing puck.

Elias Fälth ended with a direct shot. In the power play. Job done.

The two best teams in each group advance to sixteenth-delsfinal. Which team Frölunda may face will be determined on Tuesday when the draw takes place in Helsinki.

But some things we know. Frölunda is the group one and must therefore meet a group runner-up. Group The ones starting away. Teams from the same country can face each other.

The playoffs begin on September 22.
