Anders Lindblad: I can understand that Hamrén appeal for assistance – Swedish Dagbladet

F irst kept Erik Hamrén a loaded inflammatory speech which we have seen and heard before. Then presented the pressed coach a squad of beds for new sharp criticism. Not even flirtation with John Guidetti can hide the lack of self-examination.

Two matches remain of European Championship qualifiers, against the two bottom nations in the group: Liechtenstein away and Moldova at home. Six points is a must. Then there is the possibility of rhinitis Russia in second place behind Austria, but two wins guarantees especially games in playoff against another group third place for a ticket to the finals in France.

The double loss for barely a month ago against Russia Austria has set Hamréns national team in a precarious position. And provoked a strong critic storm against Hamrén. That’s why he opened the press conference at the Friends Arena with an impassioned supporters, not as red hot as he held three years ago, but still a sign of some desperation. “Support us! Continue to have faith in us! Together we can make it possible, “urged Hamrén.

Support us! Continue to have faith in us! Together we can make it possible.

I can understand that he appeal for support. The national team has not “only” lost heavily against Russia and Austria, but also had to put up the comparison with the U21 national team’s European Championship last summer. A U21 team that had exactly everything that has been missing in the A-team in recent times: the passion, joy, clarity and success. And the European Championship title for the U21 team has, paradoxically, put Hamrén in an even trickier seat.

He wants one hand not to disturb too much on the body he built or operate populist by picking up the many U21 heroes, but on the other hand neither evade their advance after gold success. I think he would have ventured much more. Now it’s not whether or not minced:

• John Guidetti is admittedly in the squad again, but only as the fifth striker.

• Filip Helander get the most seen as a backup in the middle, Andreas Granqvist and Mikael Antonsson, who did not at all hung up the pace against Austria.

• And Oscar Lewicki and Abdul Khalili is withdrawn, but hardly as contemplated starting players.

No, Hamrén trust the old guard when the qualifiers to be decided. I thought that several of them had put their chances, but the lack of self-examination of the coach after the fiasco against Austria is clear. He misses above all, a seemingly affectionate competitions!

For how can he avoid taking with seasonal succéman and U21 captain Oscar Hiljemark who greatly impressed in Serie A with Palermo? Or what shall Ludwig Augustinsson show more before he is given the chance? And how can Anton Tinnerholm not even fit in the team?

I was quite sure Hiljemark would be charged, but Pontus Wernbloom and Erkan Zengin did before … Now, Liechtenstein and Moldova defeated anyway while giving the team some restitution for the splendor of the fiasco against Austria. Anything else would be a monumental fiasco.
