Before the match, Claudio Ranieri had to cope without suspended Vardy. The solution was to deploy tall and strong striker Leo Ulloa, and that speedy Jeff Schlupp replacing Marc Albrighton from the left.
The first half
Without Vardy needed someone Leicester chasing and terrorizing defenders. But if not Vardy makes it so’ll have someone else do it. Riyad Mahrez chased down Ashley Williams steals the ball from the Welshman who does not see Algerian. Mahrez runs into the penalty area, Williams turns away and puts then into 1-0 with the left behind Lukasz Fabianski!
Prior to and just after Swansea had created a few half-hearted attack. Leicester was initially a bit passive and saw maybe a little nervous out. But then progressed half and Leicester looked more and more comfortable out. Mahrez much enjoyed in a free role on the right wing, he created himself as well suited to others.
He was involved in a free kick situation after half an hour played. Midfield colleague Danny Drinkwater sends in a perfect ball from the left edge of the penalty area against Leo Ulloa who takes away and nods 2-0!
Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez and Leo Ulloa Ulloas celebrates the 2-0 goal.
Despite the 2-0 underdog after half an hour played as Swansea was not at all out of the game. Driving in the offensive was the Icelander Gylfi Sigurdsson who in his role as “false nine”. Dangerous was probably a free kick that reached Federico Fernández, but the ball just missed the Argentine missed. A little while later needed Kasper Schmeichel step in and boxer aside additional Sigurdsson-kick.
Leicester responded with witty counterattacks, but created nothing the foremost end of the first half, which ended 2-0 to Leicester.
Second half
Before the second half was Swansea’s coach Francesco Guidolin two changes, namely striker Alberto Paloschi and winger Jefferson Montero against midfielder Leroy Fer and winger Wayne Routledge, for putting impact on the attack.
The tempo in the second half was fast initially, but as in the first half took Leicester gradually over the baton. After hours played so extended the lead. In a classic Leicester Attack tore Jeff Schlupp loose, he came one-on-one with Lukasz Fabianski and after a bit of fuss when the ball out to Leo Ulloa as easily in positions 3-0!
Leicester came into a good flow of the goal and created several good locations. Schlupp struck a fine shot that was saved by Fabianski and shortly thereafter shot Shinji Okazaki just outside a Schlupp-fit. Inbytte Andy King then missed a fine chance one-on-one with Fabianski.
But their perfect afternoon would be even better. Inbytte Demarai Gray run 80 (!) Meters with the ball, trying shots saved but the ball ends up at Marc Albrighton as Pangar up 4-0!
Albrighton set the final score and an eight-point lead in the Premier League at least until tomorrow. We’re Leicester City, we’re top of the league!
