Kim Andersson returned to the national team for the Olympic qualifiers in handball. He pushed Sweden one step closer to Rio de Janeiro when Slovenia defeated 24-23. On Sunday everything is decided against Spain.
At the 2012 London Olympics took the Swedish handball Messrs an unexpectedly silver. When the team qualified for the tournament was the home crowd in Gothenburg who lifted a calculated national team against London.
Four years later, the crowd in Malmö Arena bring blue and yellow to Rio de Janeiro. As Sweden on Friday easily dismissed Iran with 15 balls (34-19) was the only 4328 souls on the spot – on Saturday were 8653 spectators to the southern Malmö.
An audience that exploded when my sixth grade Jesper Nielsen sent in the first goal. A goal that was the beginning of a formidable start for Sweden, counterattack down Slovenia. After just nine minutes as the lead four goals high and Slovenia were forced to take a timeout.
It helped at first, but when Sweden scored his seventh goal had goalkeeper Gorazd Skof enough. When Slovenia upset victory against Spain on Friday released the 38-year-old in only five balls in the second half. Now he left the goal midway through the first act.
Sweden drummed on and with two minutes left of the first half was the lead up to six goals. One advantage that the home team somewhat carelessly allowed Slovenia halve before the break signal sounded at the score 12-9 to Sweden.
Five minutes into the second half was the former sexmål line completely gone. Then put Vid Kavtičnik a penalty behind Mattias Andersson in the Swedish case and it was acknowledged to 14-14. The match was then, as expected, a horror film.
Everything was decided in the match absolute final stage. With just under a minute left to play, Sweden captain
– Right now I’m a little disappointed. We screwed up too much. It would have been nice to have a few more goals. It had felt better for tomorrow, said Andersson to TV3.
The victory against Slovenia do all it takes is one point in Sunday’s final qualifier against Spain to book a trip to Rio de Janeiro. Sweden has also afford to lose, but not with more than two balls.
