the battle for a place in the Champions League final at the Giuseppe Meazza 28 May goes on.
Manchester City, who beat out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, will meet Real Madrid and starts at home in the semi-finals of the Champions League. In the other semifinal begins Atletico Madrid at home against Bayern Munich.
Thus, the final becoming a replay of 2014 when Real and Atlético made up for the title in a Madrid Derby.
City and Real have crossed each other’s paths in Europe once before. The teams met in the Champions League group stage in autumn 2012, when the first Real won 3-2 at home in Madrid before the meeting in Manchester ended 1-1.
Atlético and Bayern met in the final of the European Cup in 1974. The finale ended 1- 1 after extra time and it was therefore rematch two days later, a match which Bayern won 4-0.
