Alexander Fällström is back with a vengeance.
In his second match after his seven-month skadeupphåll striker made two goals.
– I think one of the big problems was that when we lost him, we lost also the power of the team, says coach His Särkijärvi.
Djurgården received Skellefteå in its third pre-season game this year. After the 0-1 defeat to Vasteras later got the team to follow up with a 2-1 victory against the spring’s finalists.
The victory was arranged by Alexander Fällström, which put both goals. 1-0 came via a crisply shot at first and then he decided at the end of the third with a control of the power play.
The objectives were Fold’s first seven months, since 24-year-old disappeared with a concussion in the middle of January. He played the first friendly match against Almtuna but rested Vasteras.
– It was fun. As he rested last game so he was well refreshed. He is the type of player that will go on objectives and be tough for motståndarbackarna to meet. Then we have (Tomi) Sallinen and Soren (Marcus Sorensen), which is a little more gambling players, says Särkijärvi of Fällström and his kedjekamrater.
Fällström joined the team in the fall of last year, and Särkijärvi are satisfied with what he saw before the injury.
– I was really happy when he came in. I think one of the big problems was that when we lost him, we lost also the power of the team. There is a strong player who is physically fit and want to develop all the time. It is great that he can step up and make a couple of goals.
As Sorensen rested Fold’s first match back then this was the first time the duo played together again since last winter.
– I think we have good chemistry since before, and we try to get better and better every day. The closer we get seriepremiär, the better we know each other, says Fällström.
Fällström came during the season from the AHL team Providence Bruins last year, and is pleased to have received start the season with the team this year .
– It is awful nice to be with the whole gang from the beginning. We have run fysläger together and it creates a very different community. It’s great fun and a nice group dynamic to be part of.
What do you personally develop this year?
– I feel that I come to the rink every day and try to work on the small stuff all the time. Nota shots, battles in the corner and those where small things. I know that if I improve them so I will be a more complete player.
