Now it is burning serious for Frölunda – Göteborgs-Posten

Sensommargass out – as hot seriously inside. And in the midst of the heaviest pre-season training there is burning serious for Frölunda.

Suddenly all Frölunda player to hit the clubs in the ice. It is a tribute to the hill Christian Bäckman, who tanned slipping into a pair of shorts at the rim edge.

The coach Roger Rönnberg smiles. He does not forget their former fighters – even if it seconds later become full speed on the ice again.

It will be a long session, divided into two parts.

– We have trained well. We have trained very good, even. The guys have responded fantastically to the heavy workout, says Roger Rönnberg.

Last Friday was run, for example, only one ice sessions of one hour in Halmstad. Then it was cruel physical training on Tylösands dunes with Tuffe Pär Edlund – before it was time for the training session in the HV 71. Maybe not so strange that the gasoline ran out – and it became 0-4 in the butt?

– All did not run in the sand, so we can not blame. We could have won that game too. Or we should have done it – if we had the sharpness …

And do not think that the exercise will be easier the next time.

– We are not in training only to find it will match. It is in the plan. We should have a good base of information for the entire season. We must run hard now, says Roger Rönnberg.

In the morning it will also be racing premiere – when the group stage of the Champions Hockey League will begin in Frölundaborg.

The English team Sheffield Steelers may perhaps be considered a bonkegäng of fans – but Frölunda’s management leaves nothing to chance. Video coach Erik Lignell has put together a DVD with goodies – and it should be carefully analyzed before it is time for the face-off.

500 Englishmen should have booked the ticket – and will create a good sound barrier in the small arena.

– There is no English team we meet. It’s a Canadian. I sat and looked through the roster – and there are many players with experience from the NHL and AHL we

encounter. We are well aware, says Roger Rönnberg.

And the day after meeting with Sheffield awaiting new game, the time of exercise in nature against SHL newcomer Rögle in Kungsbacka.

On the periphery the team on the ice is Henrik Lundqvist, Joel’s brother and one of the world’s best goalkeepers. He was running as usual workouts at home during the summer – and has raised the intensity with Frölunda.

– I’m no gain anyway, haha. I need to get up the pace! It is one thing to practice yourself, or just with any player. It’s another when you match identical situations, and an entire team, says Henrik, who run in Gothenburg for one week before it’s time to go back to New York and Rangers.
