After leaving the MLS team New York Red Bulls in 2012 confirmed today the Finnish Football Association to Hasse Backe’s new coach from January 1 in 2016.

– I look forward to start training a team again. I have had some offers in recent years, but this was a challenge, I want to take, says Hasse Backe at a press conference.

Backe has in recent years been a a valued expert in television, but also acted as an advisor in the Division 2 team Linkoping. He has previously been involved in international football when he acted as assistant coach to Sven-Goran Eriksson in the Mexican national team between 2008-2009.

– I wanted to return to the national team role. I really enjoyed the time in Mexico, says Backe.

The 63-year-old does not take over the role until the World Cup qualifiers. Instead, Marko Kanerva, Mika Nurmela and Jonathan Jackson to lead Finland remainder of the European Championship qualifiers after Mixu Paatelainen who was fired in mid-June.

And to get to the World Cup in Russia in 2018 would Hasse Backe copy a television colleague. Lars stock Bäcks Iceland is on track to make it through to the European Championship next summer and Backe sees the same potential in Finland.

– I believe that everything is possible, it’s just to check in Iceland that it is possible to do results. Players must be in the form, playing in their clubs and create a team where everyone trusts each other. We’ll play a selfless football as a Scandinavian law.



“Good group for Finland,”

In the World Cup qualifiers, Finland will be against Croatia, Iceland, Ukraine and Turkey.

– There are tough opponents, but any team can take points off each other and it is good for Finland to end up in such a group. We will be a little underdogs and that we can make use of, says Hasse Backe.

Earlier, including Stuart Baxter and Roy Hodgson overbased of the Finnish national team. Although the Danish gold the captain of the European Championship in 1992, Richard Møller Nielsen, has had the same mission.
