Background: FIFA scandal
27 May: The Swiss Police seize seven FIFA delegates on a luxury hotels in Zurich, in cooperation with the FBI. Suspicions regards money laundering and fraud. Total suspected 14 people.
May 29: Sepp Blatter elected for the Fifa president, despite the scandal.
June 2: Sepp Blatter announces his resignation – but only after a new chairman is elected at an extraordinary congress.
20 July: Fifa announces that a new President will be elected at an extraordinary Congress Feb. 26 in Zurich.
July 29: UEFA chairman Michel Platini announces he will be a candidate for the presidency of FIFA.
August 3: Blatter announces that he is leaving his post as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
September 25 The Swiss prosecutor’s office announced that Sepp Blatter is suspected for corruption. Blatter has performed an illegal monetary transaction to Platini at 17.2 million.
September 28 Almost simultaneously releasing Blatter and Platini press releases which states that remuneration for work Platini performed for Fifa 1998â2002. The final payment of 17.2 million were made in 2011.
October 10th: Fifa’s ethics committee rods of Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini for 90 days during the investigation of the suspicious monetary transaction.
November 12 : Fifa approved five candidates for president election. Platini’s application shall be reviewed only after the shutdown.
18 November: Fifa rejects Blatter and Platini’s appeal.
23 November: FIFA’s ethics committee launches case against Blatter and Platini.
24 November: information leaks out to FIFA’s ethics committee want to turn Platini for life, which is confirmed by his lawyer.
December 3: Swiss police carry out a dawn raid on behalf of the US, and grabs a dozen people linked to Fifa.
December 11 Platini’s appeal against the shutdown of Arbitration for Sport CAS refused.
December 17 Blatter was interrogated by FIFA’s ethics committee.
December 18 Platini was represented by his lawyer Thibaud d’Ales
December 21 Fifa’s ethics committee rods of Blatter and Platini in eight years.
