Toronto’s hope: Five brilliant JVM stars – Expressen

HELSINKI. Toronto has many difficult years behind.

But club bosses can enjoy during the Junior World Championships.

It is not just William Nylander – but several of the tournament’s major stars have their future in hockey capital .

– I have always said that we can not manage to play under great pressure so I do not know how good a hockey player you really are, says Canada’s great talent Mitch Marner.

William Nylander is pouring into points of the Toronto Maple Leafs farm team.

Both the Swedish hockey fans and supporters in the hockey mad city dream to see him in the NHL soon.

But the Maple Leafs have been gentle with their talents, and Nylander is far from alone.

Canadians have Mitch Marner located in the top of the scoring leaders in the OHL with the hill Travis Dermott – both belong to the Maple Leafs .

The same applies Dmytro Timashov as many believe can be a great joker in the JVM and Nylander’s Finnish teammate kasperi kapanen.

– Hopefully we’ll have a good future together, not only me and William but there are many more that you say. Hopefully, we are there together next season, says Mitch Marner.

“A fun guy to play with”

He has had time to get to know Nylander in various training camp in Toronto.

– Nylander will be a fun guy to play with in the future and hopefully we will be a fun team to watch as well, says Marner.

– We have played a part with each other, I think it can be really good. Then one knows how the mindset looks for us and how the team would like to add it all up. It is difficult to say now when you are so young but I know about Marner is that he played really well over there, said William Nylander.

During the JVM, the entire hockey world to look closely at the talent that is predicted become big stars in the NHL.

– There is obviously a lot of pressure on me here now, but I have always said that if you can not play under great pressure so I do not know how good a hockey player you really are. Everything you do right now is really about the press but one can not think about himself too much but it’s all about the team and winning a gold, says Marner.

Special tournament

His teammate, Jake Virtanen, has beaten her into the

NHL during the winter but Vancouver chose to release him for the Games in Helsinki.

For Virtanen become the tournament extra special.

– My father was born in Finland and I have dual passports. The whole family moved to Canada when he was 16-17 years old and it was a while since he was here now so we think it’s really fun to be here. We have family here and it feels really cool to get to play a JVM in Finland, says Virtanen.

You rank as one of the tournament’s biggest stars, how it is to come here with the stamp?

– Quite honestly, it’s pretty cool too. We have more guys that Mitch Marner and Dylan Strome. Sweden has Willimantic Nylander and the United States understood with Auston Matthews. There are many talented players and now longs only after getting step out here and play in front of fans. And hopefully end the tournament with a new gold after last year in Toronto.
