Sävehofs winning streak is broken. After nine straight wins came first loss of the season against Lugi, 23-26.
– Of course it’s hard to lose but it came as no shock, says Henrik Signell.
It was a day to break suites. After 18 victories in a row fell IFK Kristianstad against Hammarby in the men’s elite series.
Later in the evening it was time for the next winning streak to fall apart. Sävehof had won nine out of nine matches when they stepped out on the floor in Lund.
There began a steady first half of Lugis Hanna Blom Strand scored a penalty. Then exchanged the lead six times between the teams before Sävehof could go to the halftime break with a 16-15 in the back after Emma Fernis, Joanna Lindvall Haggren Elin Unicorn scored four goals each.
– Our defense game did not work in the first half but we scored ahead and it saved us, says coach Henrik Signell.
But in the second half slid game Sävehof fingers. Lugi was caught up and took them 36 minutes in a direction you never let go.
Sävehof did not reach neither Hanna Blom Strand, who made ten goals, or Melissa Petrén, who put eight, and fell to the end of 23-26.
– It is always a bit different and clear that it is hard to lose, but it came as no shock to me. We knew it would be tough this year, said Signell.
– It was a fairly simple analysis: We met a better team and did not come up in the level. Our defense did not, we react instead of controlling them and was worried. The anxious unit followed up the attack.
