According to the BBC attempted International Association of Athletics Federations IAAF dark names of doped Russian athletes to prevent negative publicity surrounding the World Championships in Moscow 2013.
The BBC has taken note of an email that was sent three weeks before the World Championships in Athletics Moscow started. It is written by the IAAF Deputy General Secretary Nick Davies and sent to Papa Massata Diack who then worked in marketing for the association.
In the email, type Davies how to deal with Russian doping cases.
“If the guilty are not competing in the World Cup so we can wait to publish the names. Or so we announce one or two but at the same time as athletes from other nations, “writes Davies.
Avoiding negative publicity
While it appears that there were plans for a public relations company where the IAAF’s current president Sebastian Coe is the chairman would drive a campaign to avoid negative publicity .
Nick Davies still feel that you have not done anything wrong.
– My e-mails was all about exchanging ideas regarding relations with the media and the serious challenges that exist. It did not lead to anything and there is no possibility that a strategy for media can influence the anti-doping work, he tells the BBC.
– I have never discussed this with the PR company and there was no agreement on any campaign . The Company has not had any assignments for the IAAF since
