Sweden undefeated in the group stage – Swedish Radio

Junior crowns won over Canada, and thus goes unbeaten through the group stage.

Sweden beat Canada 5-2 and made a clean sweep in the group stage.

– It feels like they are not going to believe that there will be someone easy game if we meet them in the future. We have set ourselves a j-written good position for the future, we are going for gold, says Axel Holmstrom to Radiosporten.

But a late goalkeeper substitution when Linus Soderstrom was forced to leave matches worries.

Soderstrom was back after being rested against Denmark later, but switched itself out with 3:49 left.

In came instead Felix Sandström.

A damage on Söderström, who had grown out to first goalkeeper, would be a nightmare for the playoffs.

– Hopefully it was just a precaution. But I have no idea, says Holmström.

As the Swedish team victory was already assured before the game and Canada was ready to table number three was not the game for more than glory.

But that was a long way For two gold aspirants.

Junior crowns wanted to go clean in the group stage and extend his winning streak in the group matches, which is now nine years and 36 games long.

Canada, who had a wobbly group stage journey, wanted a winning feeling with them in the playoffs.

The Canadians played tough physically, but stepped over the line and pulled on expulsions.

When was Sweden mercilessly.

The first three goals all came in numerical superiority:

Alexander Nylander shot 1-0 on a return from the goalkeeper Mackenzie Blackwood after he saved the first shot from Rasmus Asplund. The goal came after 4:37.

Just 2:31 later it was time again. Hill Gustav Forsling shot 2-0 in Blackwoods far corner after good work by Oskar Lindblom front of the net.

Adrian Kempe made 3-1 on a direct shot after 13:38 of the second period at Axel Holmstrom fit. The Canadian goalkeeper got a long sideways movement and did not make it.

In between were Canada reduced after 15:51 of the first period by Mitchell Stephens when Linus Soderstrom, back after being rested in the last match against Denmark, released a return straight out.

A good power play, of course, one of several keys if Sweden is to go all the way and take his third JVM gold in history. Next up is the Slovak Republic in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Now, doubling the

Swedes their target fucked in numerical superiority, and has made six goals in game shape during the group stage.

When did it is not so much that the Swedes burned one five against three mode in the final period. As had already Anton Karlsson increased to 4-1 when he kept his head onto a goalkeeper returned. Rasmus Asplund fixed the final score of the empty bag.

Sweden has convinced and won all group matches (8-3 against Switzerland, 1-0 against the United States and 5- 0 against Denmark.

It is now clear how the quarterfinals will look like:

13:00 Russia-Denmark

15:00 Sweden-Slovakia

17:00 Canada-Finland

19:00 USA-Czech Republic

The quarter finals are played on Saturday, January 2, semi-finals Monday, January 4th and final and the bronze match on 5 January. Sweden has a dream location to reach the semifinals, so, for the tenth JVM tournament in succession.
