Handbollegendaren Stefan Lövgren fills 45 years – Göteborgs-Posten

Strong like to have paved the way to the world elite for handbollegendaren Stefan Lövgren. Despite stubbornness, he is also a distinct lawmen tronic who do not have to get their way at any cost.

Stefan Lövgren is one of the country’s most prominent handball players of all time. During his 14 years as vänsternia in the national team he played 268 caps for Sweden, scored 1138 goals and won the World Championships and four European Championships. Much to be proud of the national team’s legendary captain, designated the Year handball player three times.

– Today, I feel more pride than during the career years. Then there was no time to feel for. I’m most proud to have been with the national team for so many years and contributed to Sweden’s success, he says noticeably touched in his bright office at home in the loft.

Six years ago, he ended his sports career, own will and injury-free. A privilege that few elite athletes allowed to do so. Probably that is why he rarely feel desire to return to match the hot air.

– In a very few occasions, like a Champions League final, it can tickle a little extra in the stomach. But only for a brief moment, it’s physically impossible …

– It was a long time since I played handball. For the most part I play paddle tennis with old buddies. It gives too little exercise.

But conditioning alone hardly enough for the world summit, he pointed out.

– Strong internal will is more important than being able to run fast or jump high. A willingness to test the limits of being able to say that you have done everything you could. On the whole I am satisfied with my performance.

A match, he is particularly pleased with the European Championship final between Germany and Sweden, February 3, 2002. In a packed Globen Sweden took home the European Championship gold medal.

– It was special to play at home. People had high expectations of us and they felt the pressure. After the final whistle, I felt euphoria and emptiness. When I melted that we had managed to meet the expectations I felt enormous pride at having made it to Sweden.

Nowadays he executive director of the Swedish handball team, a company owned by and focuses on generating income to the Swedish Handball Federation. Revenue from international matches, championships, television rights, partnerships, sponsorships and more. The driving force is to give more young people the opportunity to train handball.

So continued handball Stefan Lövgrens life.

– It suits me. Handball is an extremely exciting, fast-paced and complex sport, with lots of group dynamics and tactics. Much is to

outmaneuver your opponents.

But there is also a life outside the handball, with room for both family, friends and travel.

– As a person, I have always liked to doing things together with others in a team. I am very stubborn and will not give up, but the conflicts I’m not resentful, but try to find a solution quickly. I do not get my own way at any cost. Rather, I give way to find a solution that everyone can accept, says Stefan Lövgren.
