Rönnberg: “William Nylander is magic” – Expressen

2012 led Roger Rönnberg Sweden to the gold medal in the Junior World Championships.

Before this year JVM in Finland, he says:

– William Nylander is magic .

Rönnberg also think SHL should suspend the JVM.

It’s been almost four years ago Mika Zibanejad did that overtime goal (final against Russia) who got the whole Hockey Sweden to go into spin.

Frolunda coach Roger Rönnberg, who led the team with Robert Ohlsson says with warmth in his voice:

– I have good memories of the whole year, it was a fantastic litter to work with, a tight group with a bunch of race skulls that were fun to lead.

This year’s team is not inferior, claiming alchemist Rönnberg.

These are good grounds for dreams of a repeat of the feat in Canada.

– I definitely think Sweden can fight for gold, it is at least as good team as before, strikes Rönnberg fixed.

fixed star in the winter Swedish JVM-law is obviously William Nylander, prodigy who led the scoring leaders in the AHL (Toronto Marlies) when he traveled back to Europe to participate in another JVM.

Rönnberg does not save on the praise:

– Immensely talented, especially in the offensive game, he can really make a difference. The best players control the rhythm of the matches, and he does. You can certainly find faults in his game without the puck, but the puck is he magical. He keeps the same level as the previous best junior men we had, it’s a world scale in him.

– What I’m curious to see, that’s how hard William compete, how hard he is willing to compete for the team , changing the things he did before.

More tips for hockey fans at home in the cottages, players to watch?

– I like many, very many . There is a homogenous team, all forwards in principle can be an offensive threat. I like Axel Holmström, Skelleftea, our Frölunda Guys, on the reverse side will be fun to see (William) Lagesson who have been here, the more defensive profile, fun to see how tough he is to face.

Junior World Cup is now a major event in Sweden, televised games, massive media coverage, and as the Swedish hockey youth become better so interest has skyrocketed.

The question is – should not JVM stand in center even more, would not SHL pause while the cream of world junior elite will fight for the world title?

Rönnberg:

– Yes, I liked it when I was coach, I think it still is. It is one of the biggest tournaments for national teams, hockey, including the World Cup and the Olympics, it will be there, the World Cup is also there, that’s the big four. I think that SHL clubs should be rewarded for investing in young players, now they become little punished.

Finally, to train a junior and a senior team, what’s the big difference?

– Young players are closer to their instincts, do not see a lot of obstacles, it is easier to let go and trust their instincts fully. There is a natural desire of young players who are fun to be close.
