The radiant sun and the green surroundings gave the impression of early spring, or possibly summer, the Austrian Lienz. And it was not just the weather that was upside down. Lindsey Vonn went out in the first run and Slovenians wife Ana Trains took over the management of Lara Gut when she went out as eleventh skiers.
The Swedes did clear approved first rides. Maria Pietilä Holmner was 72 hundredths after the train, in seventh place. Shortly after started Frida His daughter was 97 for and went out in ninth place. Kajsa Kling looked stiff at first but was fine with that and took a 13th place as the 26th skater.
Unfortunately, it was not as good for Leksands Nathalie Eklund, who went out in the first run after a real crash. She is currently in hospital and there are still no data on how she feels except that she has pain in the knee.
With multiple profiles gone are the starting field more open than ever. Tina Maze, Sara Hector, Anna Fenninger and Michaela Schiffrin missing due to injuries and rain. In the upcoming second run is Ana Drive, not unexpected consequence of Lara Gut and Eva-Maria Brem.
