Andreas Karlsson: “It is gold that counts” – Göteborgs-Posten

Junior World Cup in hockey has become a middle day tradition that attracts a large proportion of the country’s hockey interested population. The secret? The speed, the joy and technology – simply a different type of hockey than that played at senior level. SVT broadcast naturally also matters – and when the tournament this time is determined in Canadian Montreal and Toronto is the interest massively.

Finland, with Frölunda Antturi Lehkonen, is the defending champion after the surprising gold in Malmo – but in a hotel room in Canada is two Anton intends to ensure that he does not get to experience it again. Karlsson and Blidh have buried the hatchet and parts nowadays room.

– Blidh is still as stissig, the stissigaste I know! Haha. We have fought a lot over the years. We are both terrible winning call – and then it becomes easy to smoke together. But now we live together. There is probably an idea, says Karlsson.

Head coach Richard Grönborg has even composed a Frölunda chain with twice Anton and Christopher Ehn in the middle.

– I hope we get the chance throughout the tournament. It would be fun. It’s been good so far, says Karlsson.

He is one of six players who were with and took JVM silver in Malmo – and this year’s edition of the Junior crowns are not as well-known players.

– The time came Elias Lindholm and Filip Forsberg from the NHL at the end – and now we lose instead André Burakovsky, which may not be in Washington. So I do not really know where we stand – even if the feeling is good! There are few days we have in us to come together as a gang. It’s a bit quieter group this time, but I’ll take it upon myself to be heard. I’m good at, laughing Anton.

he gets some julsällskap of the family, when the mother Pia flying over to Canada on Christmas day to follow the tournament.

– But Dad will be home and tear … I hope I can repay in the future, says Anton.

Sweden started the group stage against the Czech Republic on Boxing Day (SVT 2 23:00) – and also Denmark, Switzerland and Russia in the group.

– Russia and the Czech Republic will be the toughest to face. We had the Czech Republic not so long ago – and their team is really good, warns Karlsson.

JUNIOR canopy PASSED to at least the semifinals the last eight years – and the goal this time not less neglected.

– We go for the gold! You can never think of silver, set up a tournament is the gold that counts, says Karlsson decided.

AND TO GO in the final of a packed Air Canada Centre Toronto Night Jan. 5 – specifically against Canada – is no deterrent.

– It would be nice la! It would be more fun to score and silence the crowd …

Six players who were trained in Frölunda should wear crowns in the Junior World Championships – and Anton Karlsson, 18, knows just what to do.

– We go for the gold!

The seven frölundaiterna the JVM hockey
Roger Rönnberg, Frölunda’s coach, the players in junior crowns, which the club has / had in Junior activities:
Frederick Bergvik, goalkeeper : “A calm and cool and reactive goalkeeper. Quick hands. “
Julius Bergman, back :” Quiet, games skilled and fit for sure. A good player in

the power play. “
William Lagesson, back :” Almost the exact opposite of Julius! Player tough and hard, is used in box play. Competing in all – very uncomfortable to face. Will be matched against the resistor best chain. “
Anton Blidh, forward :” A real character player. Annoying meet. Working hard around the target in attack and in the box backwards. “
Andreas Karlsson, forward :” He showed in last JVM up some work I am extremely curious. Went v ery skates, tackled, played pungently. It will be an exciting future if he can show it in Frölunda too. He has a very good shot. Reads the game well, get up nice passes. It is a mature guy who came back from Skellefteå. He is willing to train himself, wants to take responsibility. It is often the case with a player who has had a setback. “
Christopher Ehn, center :” Good skater, good technology. I hope he develops into a game skillful center. Good on both sides, both backward and forward. “
And so Antturi Lehkonen, forward in Finland :” A game skilful and clever player, always ambitious. Work hard!
