Byggmark back – third place despite the pain – Aftonbladet

Jens Byggmark have had pain in his operated knee and not able to work out.

But in Madonna di Campiglio beat Swede with a third place.

– It was a vengeance. Wonderful, says SVT’s expert Tobias Hellman.

The Swedish slalom gentlemen were four, five, six, eight and 15th in last weekend’s World Cup race in Åre. After the first run of the classic Madonna di Campiglio came the season’s first podium finish.

Many Swedes were in the top after the first run. Best of all, André Myhrer. 31-year-old has had a hard time in the season beginning but was third for the second leg by 33 hundredths up to senior Felix Neureuther. But Myhrer dropped in the second run.

Instead, it was Jens Byggmark who had to step up on the podium. The Swede, who still suffers from pain in the knee after ACL injury that caused him to miss all of last season, was fifth after the first run. In the second, he went in goal with green sign.

– It was a vengeance.

Wonderful. There have not been any reports lovely to hear when he senses his knee and could not train at full, yet he steps in and delivers it this way, says SVT’s expert Tobias Hellman.

The only thing that could challenge Byggmark was runner Fritz Dopfer and the winner Neureuther.

Axel Brooks was eight after the first run and was second best Swedish with a sixth place. Myhrer finished tenth, Anton Lahdenperä 17th, Markus Larsson 20th and Calle Lindh 21st.

Mattias Hargin ran out in the first run.

This season’s giant so far, Marcel Hirscher, was not a good day and finished seventh.
