Sara Holmgren from Sävedalen won by far the women’s class in Sylvesterloppet. The fastest was Nassir Dawud, contestants for Eskilstuna, who won the men’s class with a time 31.12 minutes.
A one hour prior to the start at 12 noon on New Year’s Eve eased fog. In brilliant sunshine under a clear blue sky, they could 1530 runners set off from Heden.
At turns no one quarter later had three elite runners broke away from the peloton. They passed the roundabout on the way Sturenkatu with a big head start.
Shortly thereafter forced Johan Strand from Ullevi Stadium FK drop a gap. He retained since the third place into the goal.
– It was a bit slippery on a curve and on the bridge over the river down to Garda. Otherwise, the track was good so there’s nothing to complain about, said a satisfied Johan Beach afterwards.
Nassir Dawud took home his first victory in Sylvesterloppet after a grueling sprint finish with Yared Admasu from Halle IF. Just three seconds separated the two runners at the finish line.
Yared Admasu was greatly disappointed as he worked to win in club-mate Musael Temesghens frånvaro.Temesghen won in both 2012 and 2013 and had signed up this year, but ultimately chose not to participate because of an injury.
This year’s winners Nassir Dawud is an experienced urban runner who last won the half marathon Achieves race in Örebro in October.
In the women’s class was the margin of victory over one minute. Sara Holmgren from Sävedalen, which this time competed for Team Salming, finished in time 35.34.
– This was my first Sylvester Race. I’m pleased.
Among Sara Holmgren’s previous credits include that she was sixth in both Lidingöloppet and 10 000 meters in the SM.
– Now I will soon run my first marathon. The race is in Dubai and my goal is to take me around, she says.
Second in the women’s class was Lisa Öhberg from Halle IF, while Eva Nyström from FK Herkules took third place.
girls ‘junior managed to last year’s winner Celine Allard from Eskilstuna athletics take home another victory.
Adam Broberg from IF Rigor won the boys’ junior class.
