Three teams made up of series lead in the Italian league football when the 14th round ended with two games.
Fiorentina, table number three before Monday, had the first chance but stumbled away against Sassuolo, 1-1, despite an early goal.
The last couple out was Napoli, runner-up for the round, and leading Inter.
It slammed directly. After a minute went Gonzalo Higuain in the sole top scorer (eleven goals) and gave Napoli the lead. The Argentine quickly turned and struck the half-volley the ball into the next post.
When the Japanese Yuto Nagatomo scored with two yellow cards in nine minutes and Inter reduced to nine field players was the great advantage of Napoli. Even greater was it when Higuain scored his twelfth goal of the season, 2-0, but decided it was not.
In the 67th minute reduced the Serb Adem Ljajic to 1-2 and the fourth additional minute took Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina using both his posts, first on Stevan Jovetics nod and then João Miranda’s attempt to defend the series lead.
Napoli tops the table one point ahead of Inter and two former Fiorentina.
