Ruka. Charlotte Kalla was second, a full 17 seconds behind the Norwegian Therese Johaug in yesterday’s freestyle race over five kilometers.
The Swedish ski star was afterwards dejected and felt the distance was too long.
Her personal trainer Magnus Ingesson is not worried.
– There’s more to pick out, I’m sure , he says.
Yesterday afternoon gave Charlotte Kalla on a workout. She came running down along the ski stadium in a rainy Ruka. It was time to reload and shake off Saturday’s experience.
Charlotte Kalla finished second on the podium (!), But was still significantly depressed after the race.
– It is the so far up …, said Kalla and see the same piece out
It was the distance up to Therese Johaug who influenced her. The more than 17 seconds means that Charlotte Kalla in today’s pursuit will start 15 seconds after the Norwegian.
– It’s too far, says Charlotte Kalla.
“Staring me blind ‘
Normally, the distances do not get rid of that size when it comes to freestyle, individual start between the Swedish and Norwegian.
Or as Therese Johaug gladly put it:
– The is a distance that has been one of Charlotte’s best so it’s clear that it’s wonderful for me to be able to beat her with so much in such a short duration, says Therese Johaug.
Charlotte Kalla was eight seconds ahead of teammate Ida Ingemar daughter, who she beat by just 26 seconds last weekend at the same distance.
The skiing?
– Yes, it felt alright. It was not bad. It was not that it tricks the body.
Is there more to be?
– Yes, um, I do not know. Maybe it’s that I stare myself blind on the distance up and may not be objective.
To get another eye on the performance spoke Sportbladet last night with ski star’s personal trainer Magnus Ingesson.
“Can go harder”
What did he see?
– I think she’s with. The distance is long, but she had not fallen, it had been 12 seconds, and then she dropped a bit downhill when she was stopped, he said.
Magnus Ingesson believe
– She has trained more than she did before until last weekend. Somewhere puts it its tracks. She will gradually get better and better, he says.
Magnus Ingesson saw yesterday that there are details that prove his thesis.
– When she is in good nature, she can go harder in the beginning. I see that there is more to get out, he says, that the winter-long aim overall World Cup and every point is important.
How do you look at Charlotte’s duel with Therese Johaug?
– Therese is strong, I think that it is very difficult to challenge her over a season. I think Therese is as strong as Marit. Marit’s advantage is that she could take equally good points in the sprint.
