Athletics star Linda Haglund death – Aftonbladet

Linda McTear (former Haglund) died on Saturday at the South Hospital in Stockholm, writes Dagens Nyheter.

Athletics star was one of the famous 56 threads and have several SM Gold and Swedish record in the merit list.

It was on Monday that the former sprinter star Linda Haglund forced to travel by ambulance to the hospital.

– The doctors found a clot in one lung, and they found moreover that Linda had cancer in many parts of the body, says Linda’s two years younger brother Jimmy Haglund Today Nyheer.

Then it went fast. On Saturday, she died in hospital. She was 59 years old.



Three Swedish records

She has won Indoor Championships 60 meters, was four at the Olympics in 1980 and took seven national championships in the 100 meters and five gold in the 200 meters. In 1978 she was named “Athlete of the Year” and in 1981 she received the Victoria Scholarship.

She still holds the Swedish records in the 100 meters (11.16), 200 meters (22.82) and 60 meters indoors (7, 13).

His career got an abrupt turn when she SM 1981 tested positive for anabolic steroids and turned off in 1.5 years.

His career ended in 1984.

After a career married Linda Haglund with the American sprinter Houston McTear and took his last name. They have not lived together for a long time. Houston McTear passed away on November 1.
