Today we hear the sad news that Bengt “foal” Berndtsson passed away yesterday after the game against Elfsborg, 82 years old. “Foal” is one of the great icons in Blåvitt. With 599 first-team matches, 348 matches in the Olympics, World Championships silver in 1958, 16 seasons in Blåvitt he was one of our greatest players of all time.

“foal” was a very professional athlete who never managed to tear themselves away from football. He was one of the driving forces of the old comrades, and was active players where as 82 years old. He had a large Blåvitt heart and was a frequent visitor at Gamla Ullevi.

“foal” had been and seen the match between IFK Göteborg and IF Elfsborg at Gamla Ullevi when his heart stopped on the way home from the stadium.

Our thoughts today are with his wife Britt and relatives.
