Alexander Ovechkin was a goal for the record for Russian players in the NHL. He scored three in the game, but still there was no record. Washington won the högdramatiska game 3-2 which also Nicklas Backstrom played an important role.

What a drama it was between Washington and Toronto.

Alexander Ovechkin were after Sergei Fedorovs goal record of 483 direct hits by a Russian in the league.

He himself stepped out into the match with 482 goals, but had to wait until 4:51 into the second period to touch Fedorovs record. Backhand goal in powerplay meant 1-1. Nicklas Backstrom assisted.

Toronto did a really good match, even though the team played at home Friday night against Detroit and flew to Washington for the new match on Saturday.

They made 2-1 in the middle of the third and it looked like neither Ovechkin would get a new high score or even a victory.

But with 2:39 left, he was there again. With his back to goal, he whipped a backhand return and thus a target more than Fedorov.

The thought anyway all.

But Toronto’s coach Mike Babcock demanded that the judges would look again at the case because his goalie James Reimer was courted hard by Justin Williams in målögonblicket.

Babcock got right and stole the record from Ovechkin.

Washington picked out the goalie at the end. In the end, Williams puck to Nicklas Backstrom at Reimer’s left post and there beat the Swede in 2-2.

“Bäckis’ fifth goal of the season came when the game clock stood at 0.8 left.

The extension was speechless, and first in the fourth round came only one penalty goal.

And who did it?

Alexander Ovechkin course. He pulled out Reimer from the target and held the puck before putting it into the net.

But the goal in the shootout do not count for målrekordet, so it strange happened to the Ovetjkins three goals this evening were counted only one in this context.

He is thus left on 483 goals, just like Sergei Fedorov.

– There were important points for us. But it is clear that the record means a lot to me. May be next time instead said Ovechkin after the game.

He will get another chance on Tuesday in Detroit.

Jesper Fats launched the New York Rangers target shooting in Phoenix, where Arizona’s goalie Mike Smith was exchanged against Anders Lindbäck well into the second period after he let in three goals.

Antti Raanta continued great play Henrik Lundqvist is free. He saved the 39 first shots, but released last evening with only 4.6 seconds left when the Rangers won 4-1. Fifth straight victory.

Nicklas Grossmann who scored two goals later in Arizona, had to leave the game injured after the first period. He collided with Jared Stoll and received an injury to the lower body, according to the Arizona Republic.

Loui Eriksson also opened the scoring when Boston visited Montreal. Patrice Bergeron’s shot went in anyway through the Louis skate goals in powerplay.

Jonas Gustavsson was guarding the goal, and now he knows how it feels to lose in Boston, Montreal turned around and won 4-2 after two late goals. The last but Jonas in the cage.

Alexander Steen is in great shape right now. He scored a goal and assisted to when St. Louis off beat Nashville 4-0 since Jake Allen saved 45 shots. Steen’s goal was his eighth, which meant he regained the lead in the Swedes’ top scorer.
