Sweden will host the World Handball Championship.

Along with Poland, Sweden will host the championship 2023rd

– Now begins the process of determine the cities, venues and fine dirt, and we are agreed with Poland that the country and the city that has the best opportunities to arrange a finals in 2023 will do it, says Stefan Lövgren, CEO of the Swedish handball team AB.

Here comes the joy the news for all Swedish handball fans.

Sweden will host the World Cup in 2023 along with Poland.

– This is completely in line with the policy we have, we should work to get international championships in Sweden. We assigned two European Championships and one World Cup finals 2016-2023 is the rate that we considered to be adept at organizing major championships, says Swedish handball federation president Hans Vestberg said in a statement.

Host Cities not clear

Sweden / Poland won the vote in the struggle with Hungary’s application and the decision taken by the International Handball Federation Congress in Russian Sochi.

Which Swedish cities that will play host is not yet clear.

– We have worked closely with our regions, cities and stadiums, and together with Poland managed to create a concept that has great potential to develop handball and offer hearty crowd celebrations. Previously, Sweden has also been awarded the European Championship for ladies 2016 men’s European Championship in 2020, along with Norway and Austria.

“Large investments”

The World Cup 2023 will be the fifth time a world championship is decided on Swedish soil, and last time, in 2011, took Sweden to the semifinals.

– The investments will be great when it’s championship at home, said the coach Staffan Olsson Sportbladet yesterday.

Home team advantage has great advantage in the championship and Staffan Olsson believes in the golden opportunities.

– Sweden can take the gold then.

– We have the conditions in the longer term. We have a bunch niometersspelare with terrible potential to be really good. At positions where it does not look as promising as mittsex, we have players today in the national team that will be with us for many years, says Olsson.
