Malmö coach Åge Hareide hope that the team’s slump in the headlines should not affect qualifying for the Champions League.

Malmo FF has had a tough time in the league this season. Last in the home game against nästjumbon Orebro saved MFF one point, and the first overtime.

– I hope that our problems in the headlines does not affect our European games, but it is about small margins in football. We have to work on and take these games to find the right, get a good result and a good performance, says Åge Hareide.

Malmo coach also believes to the resistance in the first qualifying round is more difficult this year than when the team met Latvian Ventspils last year.

– Zalgiris is much better than Ventspils as a team and have better individual players. We must be alert to their strengths, but I have a good handle. I’ve seen them play in Lithuania and even on television, so it will be under control.

Malmo has suffered some injury worries. The couple defender Filip Helander and Erik Johansson will both miss the game and even the goalie page looks sparse after Robin Olsen fled to the Greek Paok. Behind the first choice Zlatan Azinovic Malmö has signed 16-year-old Marko Johansson as second goalkeeper, and 49-year-old goalkeeper coach Jonnie Fedel as the third goalkeeper.

– We have an good goalkeeper in Ibrahimovic, but it’s true that we have no weight behind him. We’ll just hope nothing happens to Zlatan said Hareide.

A positive response to the Malmö coach is however Rasmus Bengtsson, who has had problems with the calf, is ready for the game.
