It swings and crackle of the Gothia Cup – Gothenburg Post

Most danceable was Waka Waka and most synchronized was Zambia.
The most beautiful was the Fair Play feature.
On Monday evening inaugurated the 41st edition Gothia Cup.

Compere were Bruno Mitsogiannis and Anna Strandberg had the same roles at the inauguration of the handball tournament Partille Cup in Scandinavium earlier this summer.

Then put almost 14 000 spectators in the audience instead of a packed Ullevi.

– The inauguration is an opportunity for everyone to come and see that we do this together. Both players, coaches, officials and others who work with the tournament. It means a lot to the Gothia Cup, says Lena Rönnefors, tournament leader.

With 75 nations represented, there was a lot of laps around the football field during the opening ceremony, with the invasion baked into the show right through.

Most spontaneous dancing attracted “Waka Waka” when African countries marched to the 2010 official World Cup song. Coolest invasion invited Zambia to when participants had their own, cruel sync, choreography midst of his lap to invite the audience on.

Most poignant was when a solitary pianist sat alone at the scene and Fair Play sequences from professional football. Photos of the players who helped each other, broke away wrongfully convicted punishes and other types of sportsmanship rolled on the screen.

After that played Heroes and player representatives were sworn Gothia oath. The German representative made a valiant attempt to swear the oath by heart, but without much success. When he picked up the fake paper he was greeted by cheers. Although not as high as the Swedish representative. The atmosphere grew during the opening ceremony and at the end got the ceremonies are the audience to stand up and hold each other.

When the five largest nations (US, UK, Norway, Germany and Sweden) marched into the end it was nothing but cheers . Finally, invited the show in a tremendous fireworks display before the world’s largest youth tournament was officially declared open.

From the beginning, the opening ceremony took place at various locations in Gothenburg. As the tournament grew, there was a centralization and the inauguration was moved to the Ullevi 1989. When used only half the arena.

It was different on Monday.

Now it’s a question of who gets the spot, and who do not get it. The tournament has been expanded with over 100 teams, despite the fact that the tournament’s growing pains. 55 000 people – with 9,000 people on the track – watched the opening ceremony.

The logistics is an issue for the future.

– This business of logistics is a very difficult question. We do not want to limit the number of Gothenburg Audience at the opening ceremony, but in the first place, participants must fit, she says.

The Gothia Cup runs until Saturday when the finals are played at Gamla Ullevi.
