Carolina Johnsson won Sweden’s third medal at the Junior European Championships when she swung a silver in the 3,000 meters obstacles.
– The goal is always gold, but silver is beautiful, too.
Turki’s wife Sümmeyye Erol crushed the opposition in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Junior European Championships in Eskilstuna and ran into her personal best 10:19.
But behind her was the Swede Carolina Johnsson was best. After a cautious start, she showed strength on the last lap.
– It was a strange race, I thought she was cured. She started very slowly and carefully, but it turned out that she has disposed their forces just appropriate, says SVT’s expert Anders Gärderud.
It was part of Johnson’s tactics.
– I wanted to hold my breath and be patient to then attack at the end, she says to SVT.
Johnson ran into at 10:28 and is very happy with the silver.
