Richard Gasquet ready for Stockholm Open – Expressen

Today, he plays semifinal against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.

He is perhaps best known for his boundless beautiful enhandsfattade backhand and his natural talent. Richard Gasquet was long the tennis world’s most promising skills – ranked world number one junior – but have found it difficult to take the final leap to the senior tour.

At best, he was ranked the world seventh in 2007, shortly after he reached the semifinals at Wimbledon as 21-year-old.

This year he repeated the feat again. Gasquet beat French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-finals with 11-9 in the fifth set and plays today semifinal against Novak Djokovic.

29 years old, he looks better trained than in a long time.

– The main difference with Richard now, compared to previous years, is his physique. I think he has improved loads. I have heard that he has trained hard to really be ready to go all the matches, and it gives paid, says Djokovic before the semi-finals.

Now Gasquet additionally ready for the autumn edition of the Stockholm Open, where he will becoming one of the largest poster names.
