– A steady hockey game. Their goalkeeper (Ondrej Pevelec) kept them in the game, as well as ours. We also managed to keep track of where (Jaromir) Jagr was. It is not easy because he is so fast and creating all the time, said Sidney Crosby, whose chain was matched against with Jagr, who, however, were hard and for once would be quite pale.

Crosby was delighted to be in their first World Cup final.

– There is a big chance for us now. It is not easy to get there. Now we have to stay focused because we know that the biggest challenge comes in the morning.

Before the second semifinal he could not say much about the final resistance.

– But there are so many good players out there. So far in the tournament are also all just focused on winning, and on what one himself and his team must do.

Even if he thinks Canada learned this by playing on the big ice, it is still a challenge.

It was eight years since Canada last won a World Cup gold. What would it mean to break the line?

– it would be fantastic. Our team has gotten better and better. Today’s match was a big test for us.

The expectations were huge in the Czech Republic and especially on Jaromir Jagr before the game.

Around the arena was full of home fans with sweater numer 68 in the sunshine, who wanted to see a new Jagr-show that the two goals in the quarter-final against Finland.

But despite the Czechs started incredibly strong, neither Jagr or the newest Tomas Plekanec upset Canada. Large favorites Canada did, however, show that the team is not only extremely strong forward. They are also good defensively.

As the Czechs failed to get a hole in Mike Smith took Canada into a meandering period of offensive hockey.

Canada won the shots with 19-10 and that was no excuse shots. Almost all were scoring opportunities.

Sidney Crosby found the key to the Czechs defense. A great opening fit in the central zone gave Jordan Eberle firläge far right. But he only had to record to Taylor Hall, who did not miss the open net.

Canada took over even more in the second period, but more than Jason Spezzas goal between the legs of the hill and the goalkeeper did not happen.

The Czech Republic also had a puck inside, but Michal Jordan’s shot was sentenced doubtful away to players in the goal area.
