Putin sharply critical of FIFA-raid – Göteborgs-Posten

Eight senior football leaders have been arrested on suspicion of corruption and money laundering:

Jeffrey Webb, Kajmanöarna, vice president of FIFA and president of the Concacaf (Football Association for North and Central America and the Caribbean), chairman of FIFA group against racism and discrimination.

Eugenio Figueredo, Uruguay, Vice President of FIFA, and until recently president of the South American Football Confederation and former president of the Uruguayan football association.

Eduardo Li, Costa Rica, Chairman Costa Rican football association. Advisor in the Organising Committees for the U20 World Cup Men and U17 Women’s World Cup.

Julio Rocha, Nicaragua, Development of FIFA and former president of the Nicaraguan football associations. Former president of the Central American Football Union Uncaf.

Costas Takkas, Kajmanöarna, former Secretary General of Kajmanöarnas football associations.

Rafael Esquivel, Venezuela, president of the Venezuelan Football Association, sits on the Executive Committee of the South American Football Confederation, member of FIFA’s disciplinary committee.

Jose Maria Marin, Brazil, until recently president of the Brazilian

Football Confederation, was chairman of the committee for the World Cup 2014.

Jack Warner, of Trinidad and Tobago, the former member the FIFA Executive Committee and president of Concacaf. Has previously been accused of a series of ethical violations and corruption in football. The charges were withdrawn when he resigned in 2011.

Other suspects:

Nicolás Leoz, Paraguay, former member of the FIFA Executive Committee and president of the South American Football Confederation. Has led the Paraguayan football association in two rounds.

Four people on FIFA’s marketing department is suspected: Alejandro Burzaco, Aaron Davidson, Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis. A fifth person from the marketing department, Mr Margulies, accused of having been the intermediary.
