Sweden stands behind the demands for deferred FIFA Congress – Radio Sweden

After several high-ranking Fifa functionaries arrested yesterday on suspicion of bribery now requires the European football association UEFA to the FIFA Congress in Zurich which will begin tomorrow is postponed for six months.

– I think it would be good if you had to sort this out and then come to the Congress in peace and quiet, so shoot at it feels appealing says the Swedish union’s chairman Karl-Erik Nilsson.

He goes then on UEFA Board line and going during the day today struggle to FIFA Congress to be launched in Zurich tomorrow is postponed.

– Considering what happened and the serious allegations that have come from the prosecutor so spill it over here on way too many people who have connections to Congress and the FIFA management, says Karl-Erik Nilsson.

If it really can be that is not at all safe. The European delegates who late last night, one by one, came to the congress hotel in Zurich will have a meeting on the issue at noon today, and they must first agree to the proposal even to be presented to the FIFA Congress.

And even within UEFA, there are different views on the need to postpone the congress.

– We must think about vast closely at it, if we are alone in this view, is there any purpose says a very passable European delegate who wants to remain anonymous, to echo.

FIFA controversial President Sepp Blatter has still, despite the very serious American accusations of corruption and bribery against several senior Fifa members, strong support, not least from many delegates from poorer countries.

But it’ll be an exciting day in Zurich today. Just before the UEFA meeting, Blatter will hold a long-planned speech at another convention here in town.

Even yesterday, Blatter made a short statement and said that the FIFA members who are now detained will shut down during the

investigation . He further said that if the accused did what they are accused of, they should be thrown out of the sport.

In front of the hotel in Zurich where FIFA bigwigs were arrested yesterday morning pattered still late last night direct reports of the raid, they arrested FIFA bigwigs and the press against Blatter in many different languages. The allegations against Fifa’s world news of major proportions.

Owen Gibson on the prestigious British newspaper the Guardian monitors FIFA and Sepp Blatter since many years. He does not believe that UEFA will manage to shoot at the Congress, much less devote Blatter.

– What has happened is probably the most dramatic thing that ever happened in my time as FIFA reporter, it feels really significant, but one must remember that Sepp Blatter is a master at getting out of situations like this, says Owen Gibson.

He says Blatter has been built up so many strong links below his long time in FIFA that he most likely remain.

– I think it has happened in some strange way may even strengthen his position in FIFA, he said.

The biggest pressure on Blatter to resign will instead come from the media, politicians and sponsors, believe the British reporter.

– We move for us new territory now, and a lot can still happen, but I think Blatter will reload and retain power, says Owen Gibson.
