After 24 years in the Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez leaves the club. 35-year-old will play for the Qatari Al Sadd next season.
His father Joaquin Hernandez said in a radio interview that it is time for the son to say goodbye to the club.
– He is delighted to have the opportunity to come to a club where he can play football, initiate an aspiring managerial career and also rest a bit, says Joaquin Hernandez.
According to the newspaper El Mundo Deportivo will Xavi hold a farewell press conference in Barcelona on Thursday.
Barcelona has already secured the Spanish league title. It was Xavis eighth
league title with Barcelona, his 23rd title overall in the club. He came to Barcelona in 1991, as an eleven year old, and has played more than 760 matches. Xavi is the player with the most matches and won the most titles of everyone who played in Barcelona.
