NEW YORK. Chicago Blackhawks did it again last night.
They won a long, exhausting overtime drama in the conference finals against Anaheim – after earlier in the game having conceded three goals in 37 seconds.
And it was the recently poked Antoine Vermette which became the game hero.
– I’m just trying to have the right attitude whatever happens and am glad that I could help my teammates tonight, he says after the dramatic 5-4 victory.
It seems that the simply can not beat the Chicago Blackhawks when it becomes nattmanglingar and overtime.
They had all sorts of problems with the Anaheim Ducks in the Fourth Conference finals at home in the United Center last night – but 5:37 into the second overtime period pushed Antoine Vermette yet in the decisive 5-4-puck.
– We had good pressure in their zone, fired some shots that they covered away but suddenly came a return and I just shoved the puck. Very nice, of course, says Vermette to NBC.
“No ideal situation”
The 32-year-old French-Canadian – Chicago trejdade to him from Arizona in March – think enough that it is more than just nice.
As late as in the game before he was poked – and now he went then into and became the game hero directly.
– It is not the ideal situation, to sit in the stands. They want to be and play. But I try to have the right attitude, whatever happens, went in and did my best and am happy that I could help my teammates tonight.
The teammates are very grateful.
– The shows how professional he is. Nobody likes to be poked, but he responded by going out and doing the career’s goals, said Brad Richards.
But as I said:
Three goals in 37 seconds
Earlier in the match had Blackhawks considerable problems against the formidable opponent from Southern California.
After the two quick goals early in the third period went up 3-1 lead, it looked like that they had control over the events, but then the
Ducks scored three goals – 37 seconds.
Well, at just over half a minute they went from 3-1 underdog to 4-3-lead.
“Was a little nauseous”
As fast no one has done three goals in a Stanley Cup playoff game since the Toronto Maple Leafs lined up a trio bags at 22 Seconds 1979th
– When it rains it pours, sighs Chicago captain Jonathan Toews when he faced the media afterwards.
– It was so they got a little nauseous and thought … “How could that happen”. But I think we did a good job nonetheless kept us calm. Many had probably had very hard to come back after such a collapse.
But it did Hawks. The big eyes gaze Patrick Kane struck back and equalized – and then got Antoine Vermette then save the Saturday night in the second overtime period.
With the Chicago victory is even the Western Conference finals equalized.
Continued closest in southern California night to Tuesday.
played 40 minutes
The question is how particularly Chicago’s jaws to cope. The coach Joel Quenneville continues to match their top four defenders mercilessly. Duncan Keith played for example 40.39 minutes in the night – and Niklas Hjalmarsson 39.13.
– But that’s no problem. I am still alert, we are well-trained, says Keith to NBC.
In the opponents believe, however, that it must be possible to wear them down.
– If we just continue to do the same thing over and over again, then we will wear down now, says top scorer Corey Perry.
Jakob Silfverberg accounted for only Swedish point in the night’s game, in the form of an excellent front gig to Ryan Kesler.
