Loss of lions – Vasabladet

Finnish premiere match in the group stage of the World Ice Hockey Championships ended miserably with a 1-5 loss against the United States.

America’s first goal was made by Steve Moses, who played for Jokerit year, 23 seconds before the end of the first period. Hill Jyrki Jokipakka equalized at 25.40. It was his first goal in the men’s national team.

With gone 31.57 Match time scored the USA’s Matt Hendrickson 2-1 and at 34.47 went the US to 3-1 lead when former TPS-scoring forward Dan Sexton struck a hard shot past Pekka Rinne. Third period started 3-1 advantage the United States. At 46.19 serviced Steve Moses puck to Nick Bonino broke it behind Rinne.

The coup de grace came at

5-1 when Matt Hendrickson scored his second goal of the match. Finland had taken their goalie to play six against four of the rink after one of America’s player being sent off.

Finland had six minutes of fruitless power play during the first two periods. Finland’s next game is against Denmark on Sunday.
