Ekelund braved the cold and sore throat – Swedish Radio

The American sprint star Allyson Felix won the women’s 200 meters in 22.85 seconds.

But it was the Swedish talent Irene Ekelund most watched. And 17-year-old did not let the big stars’ presence disturbing.

– I ran on just a little extra. One just fights and take back the stars, said Ekelund.

The talent ran in goal at 23.61 , which meant a sixth. This despite the fact that she had known of sore throat in the morning.

Ekelund also braved the chilly weather when she stayed behind long after the race to sign autographs for the many fans.

– They asked for my shoes and my tassel. But it’s always fun to see that people appreciate what you do, ‘said Ekelund.
