Sjostrom ready for yet another final – Swedish Dagbladet

Sarah Sjostrom was fastest of all in the semi-finals in the 100 meters butterfly.

– I’m not going to take me out of all the races, we are in the middle of the championship so we have to save some power, said Sjostrom by experiments in which she swam in 57.80 to 1.74 seconds above his Swedish record.

But in the semifinals, it was faster. Sjöström won his heat in superior style and made the final with the fastest time of all, 57.39.

– It felt good too. I feel there’s still a bit more to give. It was fun anyway, she says to SVT after the semifinal.

The finals in the 100 meters butterfly is in the morning, but this evening it’s time for a medal chance. Sjostrom is a member of the Swedish relay team for tonight’s final at 4×200 meter free.

– Then I get off tomorrow morning and recharge before the final (100m butterfly).

Sjöström, already has two World Championship gold medals and two European Championships in the distance, however, had not joined in the finale of his national team mate Louise Hansson. Hansson missed much advancement from the experiments and left rödgråten arena. But the tears were changed to smile when Hungarian Katinka Hosszu, who had the ninth time, chose to emphasize and thereby Hansson went rather further. But in the semifinals Hansson finished last in his heat and was knocked out.

Hungarian Hosszu could be in place to focus fully on the finals in the 200 meters individual medley, where she took gold again mästerskapsrekord 2.08,11. Stina Gardell finished in sixth place at the time 2.13,25. 24-year-old thus improved their time from the semi-final (2.13,68).
